I don't know a solution, but if you search for a good firewall, try out Kerio Personal Firewall.
Zitat Or does anyone know an other firewall sollution that works directly with a What do you mean with "directly with a T-DSL connection" ? If you use T-DSL with an splitter and the telekom modem as usual, you can use Kerio without any problems. www.kerio.com __________ So wird mein Post von allen gelesen.. |

Th ank you for you fast reply !!
First: I mean directly connecting to the NTBBA (UTP connection) I presume the connection should be as follows: ISDN - > NTBBA -> Linux firewall Red Nic -> Linux Firewall Green Nic -> Hub (internal Network) -> Server and /or workstations. All connections (with the exception of ISDN->NTBBA) are normal UTP (patch) cables. Second: I am looking for a Linux firewall sollution. I am very happy (in the Netherlands) with IPCop and want IPcop to install it also in Germany. But the ADSL connection in Germany is different from that of the Netherlands. Rgds. Michael |

I don't know wheater there is any different between Netherlands and Germany but I think the NTBBA ist the DSL modem. So you need the following:
signal ---> splitter ---> NTBBA (DSL Modem) ---> Computer / Router ---> NTBA ---> ISDN/TK/... You need also an UTP (1:1) Kabel between NTBBA and Computer. Some german links: http://www.datenhighway.com/adsl/ http://www.little-idiot.de/firewall/ http://www.eastcomp.de/router/faq_de.htm http://ipcop.no-ip.com/ipcsupport/index.php http://ipcop.no-ip.com/ipcsupport/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&file=viewthread&tid=349 Robert __________ powered by http://different-thinking.de - Netze, Protokolle, Sicherheit, ... |

The Difference is, that the german Telekom does split the traffic after the
TAE-box. You need to install a splitter, which splits the telecommunication from the internet traffic. The DSL-Modem is plugged into this splitter. This FritzCard you talked about.. Is it also a DSL Card? If it is just an ISDN Card, it is ok, that you can connect via ISDN but not via DSL. Because of the Differences in T-DSL. You can connect your ISDN Card to the NTBA, but not the Modem. You will need the Splitter between the modem and the TAE-Box. (The NTBA is plugged into this Box..) Try it with the splitter, I think this is the solution. __________ So wird mein Post von allen gelesen.. |

I have already install a splitter otherwise it wasn't possible to phone and to use T-DSL in a Windows environment at te same time...
So tecnical speaking al part are working only not if I connect them all together. The Fritz card I am talking about is a card with two UTP-like connectors on it. One for use wit a ISDN cable (I am not using) and one with a DSL cable. This cable is using only two pair (number 3,4,5,6) one-to-one connection wit the NTBBA box. I disconnect this cable and do a 4 pairs UTP cable (1:1) in it and directly connecting this with the IPCop machine. I hope you see something now what I do wrong, it should be something simple....but what...... Thanks in advance. rgds. Michael |

To my knowledge ethernet/UTP is using pin 1,2,3 and 6. To funny thing is that the DSL cable is only using pin 3,4,5,6.
I can't believe that an ethernetcard should be installed using only pin 3,4,5,6. Or what do you think?? rgds. Michael |

You actually mean connecting an ehternet card with a dsl cable (pin 3,4,5,6) to the NTBBA??
I will try it next weekend when I am in Germany, but to be honest I don't think that's the sollution. I also so an article describing that you must have a UTP cable between the ethernetcard of the firewall and the NTBBA. Is there someone out there with a working environment (IPCOP + T_DSL) who can do the follwing test for me: Disconnect your cable between the red-nic and the NTBBA and start IPCOP. Try to connect to the internet. Do you have simmilar result as I have? Meaning PADO problems? can you give me a look of you logging PPP? Thanks in advance. Michael |

To me it wasn't a solution at all
Situation:
I have installed the IPcop from the ISO and use a red/green configuration. Installed as a PPPeO on the RED nic and a fixed (10.x) IP on the green card.
Both cards are working.
I connect the RED nic with a normal patch UTP cable directly to the NTBBA. I enter the name and other ID's/passwords etc. according to the specs of the article above.
Then I try to connect with result:
22:45:49 pppd Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyp0
22:46:25 pppoe Timeout waiting for PADO packets
22:46:25 pppd Modem hangup
If i disconnect the cable the result is the same
I know that the T-dsl connection functions because I can acces the Internet with a Fritz card using KEN! software.
Does anyone know a sollution?
You can answer in German, no problem at all (for me is it difficult to write German, sorry)
Or does anyone know an other firewall sollution that works directly with a T-DSL connection?
Thanks in advance,
Michael
